About

Virtual Reality (VR) has been attracting the attention of more and more designers, developers, and companies. As the community eagerly experiments with VR, hundreds of Medium articles, YouTube videos, and books have already been published on the subject of designing for the new medium.

As the development of VR is still in its infancy stage, I fear that the design community may be prematurely recognizing and relying on standardizations and conventions. Realistically though, there remain vast territories of new design patterns to explore with all the possibilities offered by literally a new dimension to information and interaction.

Therein lies the purpose of DesigningVR.org: to explore the new reality and seek out new design patterns and methodologies via case studies, experiments, and emerging conventions. The goal is not simply to catalog and organize the scattered resources available across the web but to also celebrate new innovations and their creators in hopes of inspiring others to explore further, to go where no designer has gone before.
